Application of Discrete Element Simulation Technology to Belt Conveyor

  • According to the discrete element method theory and the status of the material at the turning point of the belt conveyor, a discrete element model of the belt conveyor turning section was established.A nonlinear Herts Mindlin touch model was applied to the discrete element model.There were four basic ball element com bined units of the massive particles was applied to simulate the material flow movement with different belt speed and simulate and test the average pressure and max p ressure at the conveying belt outside and belt center under four different belt speeds. The average speed of the particle under two group different particles and four diffe rent rolling friction factors was simulated and test and the material flow movement with constant speeding rotary was simulated and test.The results showed that the av erage speed of the particles and the calculated belt speed could be fully met each other and the average speed of the particle would have no relationship to the particle element and rolling friction factor.At the constant speeding rotary simulation, the material would be steadily rolling to outside with the speed increased.
