Research and Development on Anti-Freezing and Sticking Drum and Application to Surface Mine

In order to solve the availability ratio problem affected by the sticking material on the drum of belt conveyor due to the temperature too lower in the winte r season of a large surface mine in high and cold area, a powder near melting point extrusion molding technology was applied to successully manufacture the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) coated drum with the anti freezing and sticking features.A site trial with the coated drum was conducted in Xilinhot Mining C ompany.The trial showed under the condition of no cleaning device installed with the temperature ranging from 0~37 °C, when the rotio of frozen sticking area and rubbe r coated area of the drum surface was not over 8% and thus the anti freezing and sticking function could be played.
