Application status of low temperature plasma in mineral processing field

  • Based on the importance of surface properties in the field of mineral processing and the advantage of low temperature plasma in modification, the applic ation status of low temperature plasma in mineral processing is reviewed from the aspects of production methods, modification principle and application path.The low te mperature plasma has a sufficiently high energy to cause the reactant molecules to excite, dissociate and ionize, destroying the chemical bonds in the material. It can q uickly remove the organic matter in the coal without destroying the mineral composition. The organic matter is oxidized and removed by the reactive oxygen species, an d the minerals are basically unaltered, which have provided good conditions for analyzing the composition and the basic nature of the inorganic matter of the minerals i n the coal. In the plasma environment, the surface modification behavior of different minerals is different, and the difference of surface properties of minerals can be ext ended, which provides a new way for the classification of difficult mineral. The ozone produced by plasma has a strong reactivity with organic reagents in wastewater, W hich can effectively degrade organic pesticide residues in wastewater and can be used for flotation and slime water treatment, and has a good application prospect.
