  • The working height of the powered support far bellowed the max height would make the part of the shield beam to bear the roof pressure which should b e bear by the main canopy. Thus the stress status of the shield beam would be getting serious and cause the cracking of the weld, the breaking of the balanced jack and the failure of the other structural parts. Therefore the max and min height sections of the powered support were divided into several support areas, the stressed and mov ement features of the shield beam within the height area of each support area were analyzed and the best rational working height section of the powered support was p rovided. The finite element analysis method was applied to study the stressed status of the shield beam under the adverse performances in order to improve the structur e shape and layout model of the reinforced plate and cover plate. The shield beam is a weak part in the structure of the high cutting hydraulic powered support. The pow ered support with the rational structure and the corrected working attitude would have an important role to reduce the structure failure occurred and to improve the relia bility of the support system.
