  • In order to meet the requirement of the automatic matching and speed control according to the coal loading on the frequency conversion belt conveyor and to realize the ener gy saving and consumption reduction, an automatic speed control system of the mine belt conveyor was provided based on the video. A digital camera was applied to the system and a video image processing technology was applied to dynamically pick up the transient coal quantity on the belt conveyor. In combination with the topology structure of the mine transportation system, the transportation distance of the material ( coal) could be automatically calculated, a transportation system model was established and the dynamic distribution condition of the coal flow could be picked up. Based on the circumstances, the revolution of the frequency converter could be atomically adjusted and the matching between the speed and the coal quantity of the belt convey or could be realized The operation results of Halagou Mine, Shenhua Shendong Company showed that the operation of the system was stable and the effect was obvious. Under the condition of meeting the actual production, the average revolution of the frequency conversion belt conveyor could be effectively reduced to 86% and could reach the targets of the energy saving and consumption reduction, the service life of the conveyor belt expanded and the economic benefit were improved .
