Discontinuous Deformation Analysis on Gateway Support in High Inclined Soft and Thick Seam

According to the support difficulty of the air returning way in a high inclined soft and thick seam of North Wing, Djiacun Mine, a discontinuous deformati on analysis (DDA) was applied to the numerical analysis on the non support, bolt support, bolt support + anchor combined support and the bolt + anchor + W steel band + high strength plastic mesh combined support and to simulate the deformation failure process of the gateway under the different support conditions.A comparison was conducted on the surrounding rock deformation and falling under the four different support modes.The study showed that the gateway in the high inclined soft and thick seam with the bolt + anchor + W steel band + high strength plastic and mesh combined support mode would have a best support effect.The two side wall convergence was only 38.5 mm and a roof and floor convergence was 62.3 mm.
