Abstract
An underground mine geological compilation was basic technological work of the coal mine and the video geological compilation technology was a new p ractical technology. According to the available video geological compilation method, there would be sufficient number control points required for the layout of the camer a locations, but the complicated environment near the heading face was hard to set up the control points. In order to successully conduct the video geological compilati on work with the photographic survey means in the heading face, a new close-range photographic survey control method was provided. The guidance laser and the plu mb line in the gateway were applied to the absolute orientation of the driving face projection. The simulation experiment and the site experiment showed that the metho d was the absolute orientation method suitable for the video geological compilation of the mine gateway driving and the location accuracy could be controlled within 1 cm
